Author: the Prophet Haggai
Dating: c. 520 BCE
Book of Haggai:
Haggai is counted among the twelve "minor" prophets and wrote after the Babylonian
exile. Aside from working on the restoration of the Temple after returning from exile,
not much is really known about him. Haggai challenged the Jewish community because
they aren't doing enough to honor and glorify God - as a result, they are suffering
and are poor. The should stop trying to decorate their own houses and should instead
work with him to restore the Temple and glorify God for having brought them back to
the promised land.
