Definition:
Lubavitchers are a group of Hasidic Jews based primarily in the Crown Heights area of
Brooklyn, New York. Worldwide they number about two hundred thousand, and more
then twenty-five thousand live near their Brooklyn headquarters.
There are about forty Hasidic groups in the world, all ultra-Orthodox in their Judaism, and the Lubavitchers are one of the biggest. Lubavitchers are dedicated to evangelizing other Jews, those whose faith is less radical. They hope to bring all secular and liberal Jews "back into the fold."
