Definition:
The doctrine of rationalism holds that the source of knowledge is reason and logic. This is usually contrasted with the idea that faith, revelation and religion are also valid sources of knowlege and verification.

Rationalism is often contrasted with empiricism, although it is possible to be both a rationalist and an empiricist.
