Definition:
Parallelism is an attempt to describe the relationship between the mind and the body
by arguing that the two are ontologically distinct - thus, it is a form of dualism.
According to parallelism, mind and body operate according to their own separate laws,
and the interaction between them is more a matter of appearance than fact because God
has established a perfect harmony between them. The first to argue for such a view of
the mind and the body was Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz.
