Definition: Krishna is one of the most popularly worshipped gods in the Hindu pantheon, and is regarded as the most important incarnation of the principle god Vishnu.

Usually Krishna is represented as a warrior-hero who leads humans to great victories over their enemies, but he has also been represented in more mundane forms, like a cow herder. But in the Bhagavad Gita, he becomes Brahman itself. Thus, it is popularly believed that through bhakti - love and devotion towards him - that salvation is possible for all Hindus, regardless of their caste.
