The city of Troy is most famous for being the primary site of the Trojan War, a conflict described in Homer's Illiad where Greek warriors from multiple city-states attacked and besieged Tory for ten years before finally achieving victory through trickery ans guile. Although the truth of this account is disputed, there is a reality to Troy that is at least as interesting: it is the site through which religion, culture, and technology passes between civilizations to the east and those in Europe. The primary stopping point in this transfer was Greece.
