Everyone with a clue knows that the Fred Phelps' Westboro Baptist Church is a right-wing extremist group. They are so far to the right that even other conservatives don't like them. In fact, even the KKK doesn't like them and that's pretty bad. According to Fox, though, they are actually a "left-wing cult."

This is a lie, and an obvious one as well. The only way that it couldn't be a lie is if Fox is so far to the right that Fred Phelps' Westboro Baptist Church honestly appears to be left-wing by comparison. Perhaps there's something to that, though I doubt Fox would admit to such a thing.
And that leaves us with a lie.
In a post called, "Bikers Turn Out to Protect Newtown Mourners from Westboro Baptist Church," Fox Nation captions its photo with, "Bikers Turn Out to Protect Newtown Mourners from Left-Wing Westboro Cult."
Later, it describes Phelps by saying, "Conservative bikers turned out yesterday to protect Newtown mourners from Democrat Fred Phelps and his Westboro cult from protesting."

And why lie about the Westboro Baptist Church? It's political propaganda - deny that there are goofy extremists among conservatives and Christians and thereby deny that one's political allies ever have to change or do anything different. How many conservative and GOP leaders are there in America today who are admitting to the existence of conservative extremists and who are expressing a desire to deal with that problem?
This particular problem isn't unprecedented. Fox has misidentified people's political affiliations numerous times in the past -- and always with the same bias operating in the background. Coincidence? Of course not.

It would be interesting to know if Phelps is a registered Republican.
Fred Phelps, according to Wikipedia, did run in Kansas Democratic Primaries several times, but never won.
He has been anti-Democratic at least since 1984 or 1988. Apparently Fox just doesn’t want to admit that Phelps and his brood have changed sides and are now more likely Republican.
This is nothing new. A few years ago, when a Republican politician was found to be molesting a young boy, Fox said he was a Democrat.
