As an interesting example of this phenomenon, Tbogg quotes a recent passage from Dr. Paul Cameron, founder of the Family Research Institute and ISIS, the institute for the Scientific Investigation of Sexuality. Cameron is often cited by people who want to offer scientific credibility to their anti-gay bigotry; unfortunately, Cameron has all the credibility of a flat-earther discussing geology.
"Untrammeled homosexuality can take over and destroy a social system," says Cameron. "If you isolate sexuality as something solely for one's own personal amusement, and all you want is the most satisfying orgasm you can get- and that is what homosexuality seems to be-then homosexuality seems too powerful to resist. The evidence is that men do a better job on men and women on women, if all you are looking for is orgasm." So powerful is the allure of gays, Cameron believes, that if society approves that gay people, more and more heterosexuals will be inexorably drawn into homosexuality. "I'm convinced that lesbians are particularly good seducers," says Cameron. "People in homosexuality are incredibly evangelical," he adds, sounding evangelical himself. "It's pure sexuality. It's almost like pure heroin. It's such a rush. They are committed in almost a religious way. And they'll take enormous risks, do anything." He says that for married men and women, gay sex would be irresistible. "Martial sex tends toward the boring end," he points out. "Generally, it doesn't deliver the kind of sheer sexual pleasure that homosexual sex does" So, Cameron believes, within a few generations homosexuality would be come the dominant form of sexual behavior.
You just can't make up this sort of nonsense. I don't think that Cameron is joking - he really and sincerely believes that homosexuality is only about sexual pleasure and that if homosexuality were no longer considered sinful, all the straight people would suddenly become homosexuals solely for the sake of sexual pleasure.
I really have to wonder what this says about Cameron himself. When I read words like the above, I can't help but think that Cameron might be projecting just a wee little bit. It sounds so much like maybe, just maybe, it is he who has become bored with the straight life and is resisting incredible internal pressure to explore his own homosexual feelings with other men. Perhaps he has convinced himself that these feelings are a consequence of a desire for sex and sexual pleasure - that's surely easier to accept than the possibility that he simply isn't attracted to women.

Well, I’m afaid Cameron would be very disappointed in me and my partner. After 15 years, our sex isn’t particularly thrilling. It’s probably more like tylenol than heroin, though I can’t say for sure since I’ve never tried the latter.
Paul Cameron has admited same-sex attraction, as in this interview with David Pakman, at about 5:30 or so

It is a great interview, showing what kind of a person Paul is.
If someone gets of on seducing homophobic closet cases, he doesn’t look like he’d be a particularly difficult case.
Just sayin’
This guy is so gay and so horny! Homophobia almost always strikes me as repressed homosexuality, but in this case it is barely repressed.
