Joe Sabia on Atheism, Atheists, Religion, and Church/State Separation
Joseph J. Sabia is a student at Cornell University who writes columns for FrontPage Magazine and the Cornell Daily Sun. Much of his writing involves attacks on liberalism, secularism, and the defense of traditional religion. Sometimes the issue of atheism comes up, and that's where my comments apply. He calls his "No Shades of Grey" pieces "the Ivy League's premier conservative column."
Joe Sabia: More Church, Less State, Part 1
"[T]he problem in our country is not that there is too much religion in the public arena, but rather too little. In our prayers this Thanksgiving, we should recommit ourselves to fighting the atheist left and advancing the Christian principles upon which this nation was founded. The atheist left is on a rampage and their goal is clear -- to ban God from the public square."

"The "Shut Up!" message [of the separation of church and state] has had disastrous consequences for our society, particularly in the area of public schools. Wiping God out of the schools has resulted in declining behavioral standards, a compromised work ethic, lower respect for teachers, more violence, and more anti-social behavior."

"Simply because the Boy Scouts had the temerity to stand up for Judeo-Christian principles in their membership criteria, they are now the targets of vile anti-religious assaults by radical homosexual activists. The Boy Scouts of America was founded as a proud pro-American organization with the goal of transforming young boys into God-fearing, loyal countrymen..."

"The targeting of Christianity is ... at the heart of the recent push for gay marriage. The atheist left has spent decades undermining the institution of marriage. They supported no-fault divorce laws, championed welfare policies that encouraged illegitimacy, destigmatized adultery, and celebrated cohabitation."
