Rhode Island State Laws on Flag Burning, Desecration, Abuse

Rhode Island: It is a misdemeanor to use state emblems for commercial purposes. A ban on publicly mutilating, defacing or trampling on the American flag was repealed.

Penalty: A fine of up to $500.

Analysis:
Rhode Island is one of the few states to limit "misuse" of the American flag to purely commercial purposes. A ban on defacing the American flag used to exist, but apparently doesn't anymore.
