Ohio State Laws on Flag Burning, Desecration, Abuse

By Austin Cline, About.com

Ohio: Desecration is a crime which occurs whenever someone is found to "deface, damage, pollute, or otherwise physically mistreat" the American flag or the flag of the state of Ohio.

Penalty: none specified

Source: 2927.11

Analysis:
Ohio's law against flag desecration is relatively short, but it's also broader than average. Most state laws against flag desecration merely list overt acts like defacing and burning; Ohio's law, however, ends with the very broad category of "physically mistreating" the flag. That could potentially cover a very broad range of actions, depending upon how the police and prosecutors want to enforce it.
