Pledge of Allegiance: Information, History, Arguments

Was the 1950s addition of "under God" unconstitutional? Not only that, it's fundamentally immoral because it tells people that there is an inherent, officially supported connection between American patriotism and belief in a particular sort of god.

Bible Commentary: Jesus Advises Vigilance (Mark 13:30-37)

Although the majority of chapter 13 has been directed at reducing people's anxiety towards the coming apocalypse, now Jesus is advising a more watchful stance. Perhaps people shouldn't be afraid, but they should definitely be vigilant and careful.

Harry Potter: Is Harry Potter a Christian Allegory?

When Christians talk about the Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling, it’s most often to complain about them - for example, their use of magic. A few Christians, though, argue that the Harry Potter books are not only compatible with Christianity, but in fact contain implicit Christian messages. They compare Rowling’s books with the Narnia series by C.S. Lewis or the books by Tolkein, all works imbued with Christian themes to one degree or another.
