Definition:
The Ursulines are an order of nuns founded by St. Angela de Merici in 1535 for the
sole purpose of educating young girls. This was the first teaching order of women ever
founded in the Catholic Church. The first approval was given by Pope Paul II in 1544,
at which time the order adopted the Rule of St. Augustine. A Bull of final approval
was given in 1612 by Paul V, establishing the group as a formal religious order of
cloistered nuns who were required to take solemn vows.
In 1900, with advice from Pope Leo XIII, various Ursuline orders came together to form the Roman Union of the Order of St. Ursula. Those which did not join and recognize the authority of a single piroress general remained either under the direct jurisdiction of the pope as independent monasteries or under the jurisdiction of different diocese as local convents.

Sometimes confused with theology, the Philosophy of Religion is the philosophical study of religious beliefs, religious doctrines, religious arguments and religious history. The line between theology and the philosophy of religion isn't always sharp, but the primary difference is that theology tends to be apologetical in nature, committed to the defense of particular religious positions, whereas Philosophy of Religion is committed to the investigation of religion itself, rather than the truth of any particular religion. What is Theism?
