The two letters attributed to Peter
were addressed to the "Exiles of the Dispersion," in other words, Jews who had entered
the disapora and now facing persecution from the Romans. The author was concerned that
the faithful might be swayed by false teachings, so he wanted to warn them to stay
with the true faith and await the Second Coming of Jesus.
