Book of Obadiah:
One of the "minor" prophets," the book of Obadiah is the shortest in the entire Bible,
consisting of just 21 verses written some time after the Jews had returned from their
exile in Babylon. Obadiah means "servant of the Lord" in Hebrew, and the author
announces God's plans to destroy the
Edomites
because of its pride and because he helped bring about the destruction of Judah. Furthermore,
Obadiah predicts that Edom and other nations which had opposed Israel would eventually
be punished by God for their actions.
