Biography:
Born in 1923 Rita Antoinette Rizzo entered a Franciscan convent and helped form the Santa Clara monastery in Canton, Ohio in 1946, taking the name Sister Mary Angelica. Eventually she established the Our Lady of Angels monastery in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1961 where she worked diligently to maintain some measure of financial stability.

At some point she came to believe that she could better spread her message via television and became a regular guest first on Pat Robertson's Christian Broadcasting Network and then later on PTL. She later decided to strike out on her own and in August, 1981, she began broadcast as the Eternal World Television Network - a project which did not have the sanction of the Catholic Church, but that was of no concern to her.

By 1983 her programming was seen in at least one million homes and by 1990 she was broadcasting 24-hours a day. By far the most aspect program of EWTN is Mother Angelica herself, seen regularly in her own show "Mother Angelica Live."

What is the Philosophy of Religion?
Sometimes confused with theology, the Philosophy of Religion is the philosophical study of religious beliefs, religious doctrines, religious arguments and religious history.
