Gospel According to Luke:
The Gospel according to Luke is one of the three synoptic gospels, written by the same author as the
Acts of the Apostles.
In Christian tradition, this gospel is attributed to the person Luke who called "the
beloved physician" by Paul in Collossians 4:14.
It was probably written around 80 CE, although a few scholars date it a bit earlier.
It should be noted that the Gospel according to Luke is a more highly polished story than the other two synoptic gospels, and the author betrays a deeper understanding of classical Greek. He was, then, probably well-educated and well-versed in Greek culture. His two works account for nearly 25% of the entire New Testament, constituting an important resource about the theology and history of the early Christian communities.
