Kings:
The book of Kings deals with history from the creation of the monarchy, both while united under David and while separated into two kingdoms, Israel and Judah. The northern kingdom ended in 722 BCE and the southern in 586 BCE. Thus, the period covered is roughly between 1000 BCE and 586 BCE. The earliest portions were probably not written, however, until around the year 609 BCE, the time of Josiah, a ruler of Judah who became known for his many religious reforms.
