Definition:
The festival of Childermas commemorates the date when King Herod is supposed
to have massacred the children of Bethlehem in an attempt to kill the baby Jesus,
as recorded in Matthew 2:16. According to the biblical stories, The Holy Innocents
were all the male infants under two years of age and numbered as many as
six thousand. Church authorities regard them as the first martyrs in the name of Jesus.
