Definition:
In Christian tradition, there are four cardinal virtues: justice, temperance, fortitude
and prudence. All other virtues are believed to be based upon these four in one way
or another. This same division was also found in ancient Greek philosophy, although
Christian theologians combined these virtues with three others, resulting in the
seven cardinal or heavenly virtues.
The opposite of the four cardinal virtues are the seven deadly sins.
