Definition:
The Synod of Arles was the first general council of the Western Church, held in 314
in the town of Arles, located in south-western France. Emporer Constantine called
it because a number of important issues from the Synod of Rome, held in 313, remained
unresolved.
At this Synod, 22 canons were issued condemning the Donatists.
