Definition:
The Adamites was an obscure sect which developed in North Africa during the second and third centuries, and are mentioned by Epiphanius and Augustine. They referred to their church as "Paradise," rejected marriage because Adam did not do it, and practiced nudism during worship services. According to Eusebius, they also defied the elements, refused to pray, and insisted that it was unnecessary to confess belief in Christ.

A similar sect developed for a brief time in Bohemia during the 15th century and was associated with the radical reformist Husserite movement. Members wanted to return to a more primitive religion which was patterned after the Garden of Eden. People rejected priests, went around naked, and believed themselves to exist in a sinless state. This was, however, too radical even for the Hussites who eventually massacred the Adamites.

What is the Philosophy of Religion?
Sometimes confused with theology, the Philosophy of Religion is the philosophical study of religious beliefs, religious doctrines, religious arguments and religious history.
