Definition:
Abraham is a biblical patriarch who is regarded as being the "father of faith"
by Jews, Christians and Muslims. Whether or not Abraham really existed or not is of some
question, but he is the earliest character in the Bible that can be identified to any particular
historical time period. He is depicted as the father of Isaac and Jacob, two other of the most
important Biblical figures.
In Islam, Abraham is the most frequently mentioned of the "earlier" prophets. Muslims believe that he rebuilt the Ka'ba in Mecca after it was destroyed in the flood and that he eventually became the source of humanity's true monotheistic teachings.
