Definition:
A political party's "platform" is an organized statement of that party's beliefs, doctrines, and even policy
or legislative proposals. Specific issues addressed in a platform are called "planks" - thus, the "abortion
plank" in the Republican Party's platform is a statement in opposition to easily obtained, legal abortions
based upon the premise that there exists a "right to life" right from the moment of conception.
