Definition:
Double Jeopardy is a legal concept which is used to refer to the idea that if you are charged with a crime and found to be innocent, then the state cannot charge you with the exact same crime again and put you through yet another criminal trial. If that were possible, then a government could repeatedly harass an innocent person without just cause.
