Definition:
The bourgeoisie is, essentially, the middle class. It was originally used by aristocrats
and expressed a patronizing attitude, but it was not meant in an entirely mean-spirited
way. Later on it was used by Marx and his followers to refer to those who employed
the workers, or proletariat. In this, it was meant to be harshly critical.
