Definition:
The label "table turning" is applied to the allegedly ability of mediums to move
tables, either through telekinesis or through the power of spirits which they have
contacted during a seance. British physicist Michael Faraday investigated this
phenomenon and discovered that the tables moved not through spiritual forces, but
because people were moving them.
This was proven through a device which registered any pressure from the fingers of the mediums. When the subjects knew about it, the table never moved. When they didn't know about it the table moved and pressure was recorded - even though they never realized they were doing it.

The first section is Critical Thinking itself - how to think about claims and arguments you hear, how to critique arguments, and how to formulate your own arguments such that they are more likely to be sound and valid. The second section is about Skeptical Investigations - the practical application of the critical thinking skills covered in the first section. Here you will find critiques of things like astrology, alternative medicine, parapsychology, the New Age and more.
