Definition:
In astrology, the "aspect" is an angular relationship between planets and other points in
the horoscope. Some aspects are considered good, others are considered bad and still
others are simply neutral. For example, a "square" aspect is "bad" but when two planets
have a "trine" aspect, that is "good."
Aspects are tradtionally divided into two types: Major and Minor aspects. The Major aspects include: Conjunction (0 degrees), Sextile (60 degrees), Square (90 degrees), Trine (120 degrees), and Opposition (180 degrees).
The Minor aspects are: Semi-Sextile (30 degrees), Semi-Square (45 degrees), Sesquare (135 degrees), and Quincunx (150 degrees). Astrologers vary in how these aspects are interpreted and the degree to which they have an impact upon various signs.

This is the main index for issues dealing with skepticism, critical thinking, logic and arguments. The first section is Critical Thinking itself - how to think about claims and arguments you hear, how to critique arguments, and how to formulate your own arguments such that they are more likely to be sound and valid. The second section is about Skeptical Investigations - the practical application of the critical thinking skills covered in the first section. Here you will find critiques of things like astrology, alternative medicine, parapsychology, the New Age and more.
