Definition:
A tallit is a large, four-cornered shawl with fringes and special knots at the
edges. Tallits are worn during Jewish morning prayers and the fringes, according
to Jewish tradition, are supposed to remind the worshipper of God's commandments. It is
common for a Jewish man to be buried with his tallit, but not with the fringes.
