Definition:
The term kabbalah comes from the Hebrew word kabel, which means "to receive" and is often translated simply as "tradition." In practice, Kabbalah is a mystical, numerological, and esoteric Jewish tradition based upon occult readings of the Torah and other ancient Jewish writings. Over the course of time, many new-Jewish elements were also adopted, including Gnosticism, Platonism, and more.
