Biography:
Hillel was a Jewish sage around the beginning of the Common Era. Probably a Babylonian,
his teachings are believed to convey many of the basic Pharisaic ideals of the time,
although they also important in the ongoing development of those ideals.
Hillel is famous for answering the question of what Judaism means by saying "What is hateful to you, do not do to your fellow man. That is the whole Torah, the rest is commentary. Go and learn it."
