Definition: Founded in 1977 by a woman named Meena, RAWA is the Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan. A consciously left-wing organization, RAWA was designed to fight for for human rights and for social justice generally, but also for women's rights specifically. Education is one of RAWA's principle goals. Every member is involved with education in one fashion or another - teaching, assisting, printing text books, etc.
