Definition: Literally this means "Islamic Party," and is a political organization formed by Maulana Sayyid Abul Ala Muadudi in 1941. Maududi was one of the first Islamic writers and thinkers to formulate the idea of jihad as being a central principle and duty of Muslims everywhere.
