Definition: This is an Arabic acronym which stands for 'Alayhis-salaam. This is, essentially, a prayer which is affixed to the names of the prophets who came before Muhammad. It will also be applied the mothers of those prophets. When following a woman's name, the feminine form is 'Alayhas-salaam.
