Definition: The name "Ahl-i Haqq" means "People of the Truth" and is applied to an ulta-orthodox Shi'ite sect which also includes a number of pre-Islamic beliefs as well. Many believe that the founder was Sultan Sahak who lived in Kurdistan during the late 14th and early 15th centuries. The main body of Ahl-i Haqq followers can still be found in Iranian Kurd regions and estimates of their numbers vary from half a million to several million.
