Definition: Legalism is the ethical theory according to which the moral qualities of good and evil, right and wrong, are determined by legal rules which are applicable at all times, in all places and in all circumstances. Thus, when a person follows those rules, that person can be judged as "good" and when a person ignores them, that person is judged as "bad."
