Definition:
Conceptually speaking, freedom is regarded as the capacity to act without compulsion or
constraint and without prior determination. To say that I acted "freely" is,
then, to say that my action was something which I willed and which I performed. Because
of this, freedom is generally regarded as a precondition for moral responsibility,
because we do not usually see people as being responsible for actions which they did not
will but were, instead, willed by someone else or caused by some other force.
