Definition:
Conceptualism is a theory of mental events which argues that, although we have in our
minds universal ideas, there do not exist any objects outside of our minds which
justifies our grouping various individual objects under one universal idea. Thus,
these universal ideas are simply our own creation - and however rationally justified
certain groupings may be, they must remain arbitrary to some extent.
