Definition: One of the major forms of creationism is "Old Earth Creationism. According to old earth creationists, the earth is indeed very old - much older than a completely literal and traditional reading of the Bible would allow for. However, regardless of how old the earth may actually be, God was still responsible for the special creation of life, our planet and our universe. A key factor in Old Earth Creationism, distinguishing it from theistic evolution , is the insistence that humanity itself must have been created specially and is not the result of common descent along with other animals.
