Definition:
In Hinduism, vijnana is the state of immediate understanding and knowledge of
everything. This is a form of knowledge which transcends that normally achieved
through ritual or sacrifice; instead, it cuts to the heart of existence and perceives
Brahman directly. It is sometimes translated simply as "consciousness".
