Pure Land (also known as the "Land of Bliss") is a paradise ruled over the the Buddha
Amita. Some Buddhists pray to be reborn in this paradise, and this tradition has
developed into a popular form of Buddhist devotion. The Pure Land form of Buddhism
developed originally in China but was later emphasized by Japanese Buddhists like
Honen.
