Definition: The Hindu epic Mahabharata ("The Great Epic of the Bharatas") is the longest epic in the world, totalling 220,000 lines, which is over seven times the combined length of the Odyssey and the Illiad combined. The various portions were probably written at different times between the 2nd century BCE and the 1st century CE.
Strictly speaking, it is not entirely an epic, because it also contains other forms of literature regarding things like politics and religion. The primary plot, however, is a great battle on the Ganges plain between the Kauravas and the Pandavas. One portion of this epic is the Bhagavad Gita, which consists of a dialogue between the war leader prince Arjuna and the god Krishna
