Definition: Written btween 800 and 600 BCE, the Brahmanas are a part of the Vedas, the principle scriptures of Hinduism. The Brahmanas are essentially priestly wrirings and serve as reflections of how Hinduism was becoming more and more complex. They go into great - and even tedious - detail about how certain rituals are supposed to be performed and why.
