Definition: Asoka (c. 269-232 BCE) was a famous Indian king who united the various Indian states and converted to Buddhism. Over time, he used his power to spread Buddhist thought throughout India and beyond. He seems to have been primarily interested Buddhist teachings on ethics and social behavior.
