Definition:
Akal Takht means "Eternal Throne" and is one of the buildings in the Golden Temple complex in the holy city of Amritstar. It serves as the center of temporal authority for Sikhs and was heavily damaged when the Gold Temple was attacked by the Indian army in Operation Blue Star in 1984.
