Definition:
Akali Dal is the name Sikh political party in India and based in the Punjab region. The basic platform of the Akali Dal is the creation of an independent Sikh state named Khalistan ("Land of the Pure"), something which the Indian government rejects completely. Akali Dal has also tried to support legislation which provides regions in India greater autonomy.
