Definition:
Art Deco was a style which was most popular during the 1920s and was characterized by the use of chrome and plastic, zigzaging lines, and setbacks. Advocates of Art Deco, although they used many modern materials, resisted the new phenomenon of mass production which, they argued, only cheapened art and the aesthetic experience. Accordingly, they focused on producing more unique and unusual pieces, often through pre-industrial techniques and craftsmanship. The Chyrsler Building in New York City is a famous architectural example of Art Deco.

What is Aesthetics?
In philosophy, aesthetics is the study of beauty and taste, whether in the form of the comic, the tragic or the sublime. Aesthetics has traditionally been part of other philosophical pursuits like the investigation of epistemology or ethics. However, it started to come into its own and become a more independent pursuit under Immanuel Kant, the German philosopher who saw aesthetics as a unitary and self-sufficient type of human experience.
