Egyptian Premier Mustafa el Nahas Pasha demands that all British troops withdraw from the Suez Canal Zone and from Anglo-Egyptian Sudan.
1989
Six Jesuit priests, along with their cook and her daughter, were murdered in El Salvador. Arturo Rivera y Damas, Archbishop of San Salvador, suggested that the perpetrators were members of the military or right-wing death squads; not long thereafter the attorney general of San Salvador suggested that some bishops be removed from the country for their own safety.
