Honorius I was elected pope. Honorius would show great interest in the church in Spain and the British Isles and did much to reform the education of the clergy.

1469
Desiderius Erasmus of Rotterdam was born.

1553
In Geneva, Michael Servetus was burned at the stake for blasphemy. An opponent of John Calvin, Servetus was condemned for his focus on the Historical Jesus instead of the Divine Jesus.

1659
The first Quakers were executed in America: William Robinson and Marmaduke Stevenson.

1924
Sigmund Freud appeared on the cover of Time magazine.

1967
The English Parliament passed the "Abortion Act" of 1967, legalizing abortion in certain cases.

2005
Because of their publication of 12 drawings of Muhammad, Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten has a criminal complaint filed against it by Danish Muslim groups.
