Frederick II of France was found guilty of sacrilege at the First Council of Lyons and deposed.

Martin Luther preached his first sermon against the practice of selling Indulgences.

1972
Massive Israeli retaliatory raids into southern Lebanon forced the Lebanese government to reconsider its support for the Palestinian Liberation Organization. As a consequence, the government and the PLO reached an agreement stipulating that the terrorist organization would withdraw from most of the bases in southern Lebanon and engage only in defensive actions.

2001
Decided: O'Bannon v. Indiana Civil Liberties Union
The Supreme Court refused to hear a case about a large monument in Indiana which would have included the Ten Commandments.

2004
In France, a court annuls a same-sex union between Stephane Chapin and Bertrand Charpentier. According to the judge, France's Civil Code does not recognize the existence of same-sex unions and that creating them is the job of the legislature, not local officials. Because of his actions, the mayor who officiated at the ceremony is suspended from duties for a month.
